Kevin Mugambi
Graduate Student
University of Notre Dame
Kevin is a 2nd year Ph.D. student in the Ferdig Lab. He holds a bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and has experience working in various labs, particularly in epidemiological surveillance of blood-borne viruses, such as African Swine Fever in ornithodoros tick vectors and Rift Valley Fever in wildlife and non-human primates. In the Ferdig Lab, his primary focus is on phenotyping parasite lines to identify resistant and sensitive strains for genetic crossing and therapeutic efficacy studies of current malaria treatments used in Africa. He is also interested in genomic research, particularly how climate change in Africa may drive mutations in parasites, and he is enthusiastic about the potential for integrating modern software into malaria research.
